Vetrocom Wind Park
Alpiq’s first wind park in Bulgaria is located near the town of Kazanlak, 200 kilometres to the east of the capital city Sofia. With its 29 wind turbines that provide an overall capacity of 73 megawatts, it produces 210 GWh of electricity per year.
The initial 20 wind turbines were connected to the grid in 2011, after a construction period of about 6 months and an investment of approximately 80 million euro. Alpiq brought nine additional wind turbines into operation at the beginning of 2012.
Bulgaria provides ideal conditions for the expansion of wind energy. The constantly blowing wind has a potential for generating approximately 2200 megawatts.
